Bottom Side Control is by far the most frustrating position to be caught in. When I teach seminars or private lessons, the most asked question is... How do you escape side control bottom? In this series I shed some light on this by utilizing a grip fighting system that makes it hard for your opponent to control you.
When you are in bottom side control and your opponent begins to collapse your frame...Clear the arm, lock down the shoulder and create your escape when your opponent moves.
So you're in bottom side control and now your opponent has wrapped your head...what to do, what to do.
It's ok, take a breath. Control the head or shoulder (re-establish those grips) and frame out on your opponents hip to create the space for your escape.
Don't forget about your grips in bottom side control. Set the frame, look for the grips, work your way up the ladder and create the escape.
